There are many guides to walking in the Lake District, and they come at a fairly wide range of price-levels in both paperback and hardback editions. 
Elsewhere on this site we have some of the more popular "full-size" guides to Lake District walks, such as the Wainwright Guides and the Fellranger series, but on this blog post I'm focusing on some inexpensive, but extremely useful publications of the kind that can easily be slipped into a pocket.
